1. Definitions

Capitalized terms used in this Children's Privacy Notice have the meanings set forth in the Terms of Service unless otherwise defined below.

"Child" means an individual under the age of 13, or such other age as determined by applicable law in the child's jurisdiction.

"Parent" means a parent or legal guardian with authority to make decisions on behalf of a Child.

"Personal Information" has the meaning given in our Privacy Policy, applied in the context of children's data protections under applicable law.

This Children's Privacy Notice applies to the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information from Children who use the Platform with Verifiable Parental Consent.

Where this Notice conflicts with the Privacy Policy regarding Children's data, this Notice governs.

With Verifiable Parental Consent, we may collect the following information from Children:

  • AI Feature interactions and inputs
  • Usage data and learning analytics

3.2 Information Collected Automatically

As with all Users, certain information is collected automatically when Children access the Platform, including device type, operating system, browser information, usage patterns, and performance data. This information is used for Platform operation, security, and improvement.

3.3 No Requirement to Disclose

Children are not required to provide more information than is reasonably necessary to use the Platform. Parents may review and limit the information collected from their Child.

4. How We Use Children's Information

We use Children's Personal Information for the following purposes, each of which is consistent with the consent provided by the Parent:

  • Personalizing the learning experience

  • Analyzing usage patterns to improve educational outcomes
  • Developing and improving AI Features and learning tools
  • Conducting internal research and product development
  • Identifying and fixing technical issues

4.3 Safety and Security

  • Detecting and preventing abuse, fraud, and unauthorized access
  • Enforcing Platform policies and community guidelines
  • Protecting the safety of Children and other Users
  • Complying with legal obligations

4.4 Restrictions

We do not:

  • Use Children's Personal Information for behavioral advertising or targeted marketing
  • Sell Children's Personal Information
  • Make Personal Information from Children publicly available without parental consent
  • Use Children's Personal Information for purposes incompatible with the consent provided

5. Information Sharing

5.1 Service Providers

We may share Children's Personal Information with Service Providers who perform services on our behalf, including cloud hosting, analytics, AI processing, and educational tools. These providers are contractually prohibited from using Children's Personal Information for purposes other than providing services to us.

5.2 Teachers

Limited information relevant to the Child's education (such as name, grade, and learning progress) may be shared with the Child's Teacher for educational purposes.

5.4 Parental Authorization

6.1 Rights

Parents have the right to:

  • Review their Child's Personal Information
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Request deletion of their Child's Personal Information
  • Refuse further collection or use of their Child's information
  • Withdraw consent at any time
  • Request a description of the types of Personal Information collected

6.2 Exercising Rights

To exercise these rights, Parents should contact us at legal@legal.naijaassets.com with:

  • Their name and relationship to the Child
  • The Child's account information
  • A description of the right they wish to exercise
  • Documentation verifying their identity and authority

6.3 Verification

We will take reasonable steps to verify the identity and authority of the Parent before responding to requests.

6.4 Response

We will respond to parental requests within the timeframe required by applicable law.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

7.1 Retention

Children's Personal Information is retained for as long as the Child's account is active, as necessary to provide the Platform, and as required by applicable law.

7.2 Deletion

When consent is revoked, the account is terminated, or the information is no longer needed, we will delete Children's Personal Information in accordance with our data retention practices, subject to legal retention requirements.

7.3 Deletion Requests

Parents may request deletion of their Child's Personal Information at any time. Upon verification, we will delete the information within a reasonable period, subject to legal obligations that may require retention.

8. Security

Children's Personal Information is protected by the same technical and organizational security measures described in our Security Policy and Privacy Policy. We implement additional safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of children's data.

9. International Users

9.1 Global Application

If your Child is located outside the United States, their Personal Information may be transferred to and processed in the United States or other jurisdictions where we or our Service Providers operate.

9.2 Parental Consent for Transfers

By providing consent for your Child to use the Platform, you authorize the transfer of your Child's Personal Information to jurisdictions that may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.

9.3 GDPR and UK Users

For Children located in the European Union, European Economic Area, or the United Kingdom, additional protections apply under the GDPR and UK GDPR. We process Children's Personal Information in accordance with these requirements.
